How to connect to the Council Room Projector

Before using the projector for the first time, please read the ACD policy on the Dell 3200MP projector.
  1. For those Notebook computers that need to be on the network, we maintain a live 10BaseT (twisted pair) ethernet cable in the ACD Council Room on the ACDnet subnet. We also maintain a DHCP server to automatically configure network settings of a PC Notebook (or DHCP-configured Mac Powerbook). Wireless is also available in that area. You must have VPN software in order to use the UCAR wireless network.
  2. The projector must be turned on/off by pressing the little white "Power" button on the remote control. Do not reach up to projector itself (to attempt to operate or adjust it). Be sure to turn on the projector before turning on the computer to be attached to it (either a notebook computer or the Access Grid PC).
  3. The remote control has a laser pointer in it. Please return the remote and the other laser printer in the room to the table where the Access Grid PC sits at the front of the room.
  4. The projector is shared between two video feeds. One is for a notebook computer and is located on the conference room table. The other is for the Access Grid PC located on a table at the front of the room. There is a KVM switch underneat the Access Grid PC monitor.
    • Press button 1 on the KVM switch to accept a signal from a notebook computer.
    • Press button 2 on the KVM switch to accept a signal from the 2nd video output port of the Access Grid PC.
  5. Locate the external video port on your laptop (most likely located on the back panel) and attach the video cable located on the conference room table.
  6. Instructions on how to switch the video output of your laptop from the LCD to the external video port.
  7. Finally, when you are done with the projector, press the power button on the remote once and then again. The bulb will turn off when you press the power button a second time, but the projector may run for a while as it cools itself down.
